The heart of the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible is a powerful V8 engine featuring a 4.7 liter displacement and delivering 433 bhp at 7,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 361 ft-lb at 4,750 rpm. The engine cylinder bank is designed with an angle of 90° and valve timing actuated by two chain-driven overhead camshafts per bank with four valves per cylinder controlled by hydraulic tappets. The intake side camshafts are fitted with a low pressure continuous phase timing variator, which changes the valve opening process for optimal performance in as little as 0.15 seconds to increase the engine response. The ABS system integrates an improved Electronic Brake Force Distribution system for improved braking between the front and rear wheels.
