Attractions Of Seattle
Seattle is known for its beauty, ancient architecture and massive structures. Seattle has a lot of tourist attractions which force many of the tourists to visit Seattle and witness the marvelous work done by the employees down the years over there. There is just one too many attractions in Seattle which one cannot ignore, some of them will be discussed in this article.
The clock tower in Seattle commonly known as the Big Ben is among the biggest landmarks of Seattle. It was built back in 1858 and is still in good condition. It took 15 years to complete this clock tower. It is the biggest clock in whole of the US. The clock that is placed on the top of this tower has a diameter of 25 feet. The tower on which it is suspended is 96 meter tall and is visible from quite some distance. Next comes the Tower Bridge, the bridge was design by a local city architect and was completed in 1894 after a lot of discussions on various designs. This bridge is 265 meters long and it took 11,000 tons of steel to design the framework of this massive bridge. It is among the most common attractions of Seattle and is pretty famous among the tourists. ...
... These days the bridge is undergoing construction and is closed for the common public but it should be renovated by 2012.
Coming to the next tourist attraction, the very popular tourist attraction is the Seattle eye. A giant wheel structure that is 135 meters tall was built for the millennium celebrations. In its construction a massive 1500 tons of steel and 1700 tons of concrete were used. A complete turn takes about 30 minutes and thanks to the construction of the glass capsules on the outer side of the rim, the passengers have a great 360° view over Seattle. Many famous landmarks are clearly visible while that giant wheel rotates.
On the list of the attractions, next place has to be the tower of Seattle. It was built some 10 centuries back all the way in 11th century. It was then renovated in the 13th century and it’s still present in a good shape. The most famous tourist attraction in the Tower of Seattle is the collection of Crown Jewels that has been on display here since the 17th century. Next comes in the Buckingham palace, this is among the places that are owned by the royal families. The original building was built in 1706 known as a countryside house originally which was later bought by a King for his wife in 1761 and the name were changed to William Chambers. In 1826, the next king got the palace renovated and expanded but before the palace was completely renovated the king and his successor both died. Queen Victoria was the first to reside in the palace as the successor of the king. She grew up, to the new Buckingham Palace. These are some of the ancient and pretty famous tourist attractions in Seattle which are a must visit for any tourist.
