The year 2011 is going to be a good year for Korean manufacturer LG. While the company has typically played catch up in the world of smartphones they have already produced two firsts in the industry in the first few months of this year. They produced the first dual core smartphone with the Optimus 2X and also the first 3D phone with the Optimus 3D. The new Optimus Black however was released at a similar time but perhaps did not get the recognition it deserves due to the overshadowing effects of its sibling devices. This phone is not dual core and it does not come with 3D technology but it is a phenomenally desirable phone in its own right.
The Optimus Black comes with a gorgeous 4" IPS LCD screen that is the first to make use of LG's new NOVA screen technology. This provides a level of brightness and vibrancy that has never before been enjoyed on a smartphone device and promises to make the Optimus Black one of the best devices for all forms of visual content.
The Optimus Black is also one of the thinnest smartphones to ever be released and were it not for the subsequent Samsung Galaxy S2 it would easily have stolen ...
... this title from the iPhone 4. This makes the Optimus Black an exceptional entertainment device while at the same time a great phone to carry around without being a burden.
The phone runs on Android Froyo but will be updated to Gingerbread within the near future, benefitting from all of the excellent tweaks and improvements introduced with it. This Google OS is combined with LG's Optimus interface that provides excellent social networking support and access to Android Market.
The Optimus Black comes with a great range of entertainment features including playback support for a wide range of music and video. It can also provide you with video entertainment from online via websites like YouTube and comes with a stereo FM radio as well. You can also record your own video entertainment with the phone's 5 megapixel camera that comes with 720p video recording support and a secondary 2 megapixel camera provides the highest resolution video calling experience on offer.
The Optimus Black supports threaded SMS messages as well as coming with good support for email and instant messaging. There is good support for social networks like Facebook and Twitter as well thanks to the Android OS on board.
The Optimus Black could easily be overlooked by its dual core and 3D siblings but it is arguably the best of the three new Optimus devices. It is not dual core for sure, but does come with a speedy 1GHz processor making it exceptionally speedy to use. There is a wealth of entertainment options to enjoy and they are all put to good use by the fantastic NOVA screen technology in use. As well as this there are great connectivity options with 3G and Wi-Fi allowing to make use of the best the web has to offer to a smartphone.
