Engagement event is very significant in a person’s life and it’s mostly worn by women although in some countries both partners wears the ring and it symbolizes love, faith, friendship and deep trust for each other. In some countries lie the United States, Canada and other European nations; they view the engagement ring as a legal property and also a conditional gift. This means that the law can allow the giver of the ring to claim it back when the need to do so arises. There have been cases where by one partner sues another for mishandling the ring and the court rules in their favor. Traditionally the rule stands that when the engagement fails and the man breaks the engagement, then the woman cannot be compelled to give back the ring, but legally this can be contested in court and some rulings have been made that instructed the return of the ring. In most occasions the ring will belong to the woman in case they end up marrying.
