3D TV's are increasingly becoming a must-have when it comes to the ultimate in home entertainment systems.

As a continuance of my previous article with the same title, the following guide will allow you to arm yourself with the right knowledge when it comes to choosing the best model for your needs.

Viewing Quality Recommendations

Ideally, the best picture quality should be standard in every TV. Unfortunately however, when it comes to comparing standard quality with what the top of the range models have to offer, there is a significant difference. This in turn will radically affect the price tag.

When deciding which TV option will satisfy both your budget and your needs, it effectively comes down to your individual preferences. For example, if you spend a great deal of time watching TV, you will be concerned about having only the best quality when it comes to features such as excellent contrast ratio, colour display and black levels. On the other hand, if you're an average viewer, chances are you won't notice a great difference ...
... between a 3D TV with a 720p or 1080p resolution – thus you'd be best advised to spend your money on screen size instead of choosing a higher end set which would deliver only minor improvements in picture quality to your eyes.

Put another way, since for most people a larger screen will be more impressive than marginal improvements in 3D image quality, unless you're the kind of person who has to have only the latest tech and gadgets, it's better to choose a good quality mid to high end 3D TV with a decent screen size. That being said, to avoid any disappointment you should take the time to research which 3D TV's are rated worst when it comes to picture quality, as those on the lowest end would leave you watching dark scenes look like a muddy soup. Online user reviews are excellent for weeding out the wheat from the chaff as they come from the genuine experiences of the general public rather than the promotional spin that every manufacturer will use.

Advice to Make the Best Choice When Shopping Around

Thorough Research

It cannot be stressed enough when buying 3D TV's (or any product for that matter) that it's highly important to take the time to carefully research and compare offers online, since this could end up saving you a significant amount of money. Luckily, these days there are quite a few useful comparison websites which make it easy for you to decide which model will best suit both your preferences and budget. Some will even display your options according to the features you consider to be a priority.

Purchase Options

Once you research and settle on your top choices, the final step is to pay a visit to the retail outlets that supply them. Bear in mind however that while buying from a High Street store has the benefits of allowing you to visually try out different models, pay the price on the spot and have your chosen model delivered quickly without paying for shipping costs, it must be said that often the cheapest deals are to be found online. In addition, the advantage of buying online is that you won’t be pressured by the store's salesperson trying to tempt you into buying expensive but unnecessary TV accessories.

Lastly, beware of High Street stores that offer major discounts on certain TV models – this is generally not about offering an unbelievable deal, as a rule of thumb it means the store is either wanting to sell off their entire inventory quickly as they're about to go out of business, or they're trying to get rid of their out-dated televisions. In the first case this could mean if repairs are needed you find yourself high and dry on the warranty, or in the second case you might end up with a TV that is fast becoming a dinosaur.

Extended Warranty

It's a good idea to invest in an extended warranty for your 3D TV as if anything goes wrong in the foreseeable future; this could save you a tidy sum.

Conclusion

The above guide gives you some of the key facts and features to keep in mind when shopping for a 3D TV, making it easier for you to research, compare and buy the model that you'll be happy with. Also read Part 1 of this series for further top tips.
