Much attention has been focused on the dual core elements of the latest handset from LG, the impressive Optimus 2X. Yet look beyond this and you will find features that any other phone would be proud to boast. A slim and modern design adds appeal, as does an array of other feature that are not only innovative, but also enhance the functionality of this excellent handset. So what about some of these features that many reviews gloss over in favour of the more obvious highlights, how do they change how you use your mobile phone.

Using a system called HDMI mirroring, the 2X enables users expand the on screen display via the cable onto a large screen, high definition television. This is not only superb if you want to watch a media file that is stored on your phone, but may also prove excellent if you want to play games on the large screen or show photographs to family and friends. It is another example how the modern device has merged with other home products, rather than acting as a stand alone communications tool.

Hand in hand with the HDMI connection on the LG Optimus 2X goes its excellent video handling capabilities, with the high quality chipset allowing the phone to handle Full HD footage, rather than the standard high definition that is offered by many models. Although both offer great quality, Full HD shows 1080 horizontal lines, nearly 50% more than can be fitted onto a standard HD image. This may not make a big difference to material being viewed on the handset itself, but when transferred to a large compatible screen then there is a noticeable difference. This quality is not only available on downloads, but also on footage you shoot yourself using the in built camcorder facility. Gone are the days when you had to carry around a separate phone, camera and video camera, now thanks to devices such as the 2X, your mobile need be all you carry around with you.
