It takes some studying and understanding and analyzing of basic concepts but the most important aspect of it all is the amount of effort that should be applied to be successful. SEO, in a nutshell is the process that you do to improve the visibility of a website in search engines. From here, the process becomes more complex but essentially, you have to understand all of them to effectively increase a website's popularity.

In search engine optimization, the first goal is to get recognized by search engines. Parallel to that is to acquire an audience using different methodologies there are 4 core concepts in SEO methodologies and these are:

There are many ways in which keywords can be derived from but the most important part is ensuring that it is relevant to your website. You can also check the rankings of particular keywords. There are paid and free services that you can find to establish the keywords you will be using for your SEO.

Once the keyword has been finalized, we move forward to on site optimization. In this process, various methods can be implemented. When a search spider indexes as site, it reads the texts that are encoded within. Videos and images are not seen by the spiders. Therefore, using the keywords, the site can be optimized by creating content rich in keywords. A variety of tags (Meta tags, H1, H2 etc) are also implemented with the tags. Article titles as well as URLs should be SEO friendly. If possible, the name of your website needs to use the keywords as well. There are limitations to how much keywords can be placed across the site. It should be noted that stuffing your content with keywords is not a good practice in search engine optimization.

The website should also be optimized as search engine-friendly. A flash site is a lot of pain for many SEO marketers. A plain HTML site is most appropriate. Flash sites can be further improved by providing an HTML only version of the site. Using tags can also be helpful but as far as Flash goes, it is not the best option for SEO.

Creating a good reputation online can lead to a mountain load of success. Creating good and useful content can lead you to being followed and supported by other websites. Linking to other sites takes a lot more skill and time to establish. This is what they call back linking where in a particular site of the same niche puts a URL of your site to theirs establishing your position as an expert.

Lastly it is necessary that all your methods for search engine optimization are measured. Understanding your traffic means understanding a strategic method to increase your sales. This also helps in understanding your position in the market and how competitors are advancing with their own optimization methods.
