Htc Desire S Is Ideal For The Business User And Socail Networker Alike
The Desire has been one of HTC's biggest selling smartphones to date and was the basis for the first Google Phone, the Nexus One. Several months on from its original release and the Desire is still hugely popular and has now spawned a number of other devices including the Desire Z and the spacious Desire HD. With this winning formula HTC has been keen to bring the Desire up to speed while making sure and they don't impinge on its design. The Desire S does not mark a significant development on the original Desire but introduces quite a few updates that make it more ideally suited to people who had considered the original smartphone but had been slow to get in on the action.
The Desire S features a 3.7" multitouch screen with WVGA resolution, very much like the original phone. What has changed here though is that HTC have discarded with the original AMOLED and replaced it with a Super LCD screen. This offers better picture quality and a more vibrant interface than the original AMOLED screen and is a welcome change. The screen features Gorilla Glass making it very resistant to scratches and knocks with minimal damage being ...
... accrued.
The other major change with the Desire S is in regards to the operating system. The original came with Android Éclair which is now fairly dated, although this was updateable to Froyo. The new Desire goes one better with Android Gingerbread under its wing while at the same time coming with the same excellent HTC Sense interface that was found on the original. Sense is consistently regarded as one of the best Android interfaces and is renowned for its fantastic social networking support and general ease of use.
While the Desire S does not feature a dual core processor as many people had anticipated it comes with an excellent 1GHz Scorpion CPU and has had its physical memory upped to 1GB. This makes the Desire S worthy of its S suffix (S standing for speed) as the new incarnation does offer significant speed improvements over the original.
The 5 megapixel camera on the Desire S is fairly similar to the original with an LED flash, touch focus and geo-tagging. The camera now supports 720p video recording out of the box, which was something only available to the original through an update. Finally, the new Desire has had an increase in its connectivity options with HSPA (3G) now enjoying double the speeds of its predecessor. Wi-Fi has also been revamped on the new smartphone with the inclusion of DLNA support so that the Desire S can be connected to other DLNA devices like home TVs.
All these improvements serve to make the new Desire superior to the original, while still maintaining the same excellent messaging, entertainment and web features that the first handset was so popular for. If you are a fan of the HTC Desire and you like the cut of its jib then this is certainly a phone to consider as it offers a number of improvements in terms of software and hardware features that will be greatly appreciated.
