Samsung Galaxy S2 Mini Is A Comfortably Sized Android

With touchscreen smartphones getting increasingly larger, with 4"+ quickly becoming the industry norm (when it was once considered largely excessive) there has been a drive amongst phone manufacturers to produce miniature versions of their handsets for people who would like a more pocket friendly version of the latest high smartphones. While some of these handsets, like the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini, truly are miniature this is probably not something that can be said for the Galaxy S2 Mini.
With a screen measuring 3.7" the Galaxy S2 Mini shapes up at what was not so long ago considered to be a standard sized touchscreen phone. It is still larger than the iPhone 4 and, aside from its thinness, the Apple smartphone is not marketed as a particularly small handset.
You will come to understand why this phone is referred to as Mini however, when you consider that its larger sibling, the Galaxy S2, comes packing a massive 4.3" display. To many people the original Galaxy S's display of 4" was pushing the boundaries of smartphone screen sizes and to these people no doubt the S2 is just a borderline tablet.

... is nothing wrong with large screens; they are greatly beneficial for viewing videos, playing games and even just general web browsing. But they have a noticeable disadvantage when it comes to devices such as smartphones as they greatly impede portability and make devices harder to carry about. The Galaxy S2 Mini is Samsung's answer to this dilemma whereby they are offering the great cutting edge features of the S2 in a more comfortable package.
On board are high speed HSPA (3G) and Wi-Fi connections and Google's latest Gingerbread Android OS. The phone comes with a Super AMOLED screen with WVGA resolution, multitouch support, TouchWiz interface and Gorilla Glass for extra durability. The TouchWiz and Android OS provide excellent messaging options including threaded SMS, email and social networking support and a great amount of online content is supported with YouTube and Adobe Flash support.
The phone features excellent offline entertainment as well with great support for music and video through the phone's media player. New media players, as well as many apps and games, can be downloaded from Android Market and there is also an FM radio available for your enjoyment.
Unlike the more high profile Galaxy S2, the Mini does not come with dual core processors instead opting for a single core 1.4GHz CPU. Still provides much greater speed than the original Galaxy S, which was not exactly known for being a slow smartphone. The Galaxy S2 Mini is somewhat of a cross between the original Galaxy S and the Galaxy S2 while at the same time coming with a more standard sized touchscreen display. The S2 Mini is not miniature in the sense that the Sony Xperia X10 Mini was mini, but still offers a more comfortable alternative to those who have until now been put off by the Galaxy line's large screen sizes.
