Exercise 2: Setting Up The Sdp

In this exercise, you set up an SDP for the deployment of the mcitp boot camp Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack.
To set up an SDP
1.Log on to Server! as Administrator.
2.Create a shared folder named Adminpak in C\ (where C is the name of your system drive). Name the share Adminpak.
3.Search the Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition CD-ROM for .msi files. Copy the Adminpak.msi file to the shared Adminpak folder.
4.Set the appropriate permissions on the folder. Administrators must be able to change the files (Full Control), and Users must only view (Read) the files from the SDP folders and shares.
Exercise 3: Configure a GPO for Software Deployment (Assign)
In this exercise, you create a GPO and a GPO console for the deployment of the Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack. Then, you add the Adminpak.msi Windows Installer package to the GPO and assign the package.
To prepare Server2

2.When Server2 restarts, log on as Administrator. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
3.In the System Properties dialog box, click the Computer Name tab. In the Computer Name tab, click Change.
4.In the Computer Name Changes dialog box, in the Member Of section, ensure that Domain is selected and that contoso.com is listed in the Domain box. Click OK.Click OK in the System Properties dialog box.
5.Log off Server2. Log on Server2 as Userl 7 on the contoso domain.
6.Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Administrative Tools. Make a brief note of the tools available to Userl? on the Administrative Tools menu.Log off Server2.
The tasks for deploying software with Group Policy are the following: plan and prepare the software deployment, set up an SDP, create a GPO and a GPO console
for software deployment, specify the software deployment properties for the CCNA exam,add Windows Installer packages to the GPO and select package deployment method, and set Windows Installer package properties.
