Social Media As Election Platform

Political elections (namely the presidential election) will get A LOT more interesting now that social networks have taken over the world. You may be aware that on Monday President Obama cast his bid for the 2012 election and with the campaign so came the launch of opposition via social networks. Social networks will play such a vital part in this election that I am almost inclined to encourage the president (like actually call him up and personally offer this encouragement) to use the social networks as his PRIMARY outlet for this upcoming election.
Yes, I'm sure shaking hands, making pizzas and kissing babies will still be the name of the game here but please, oh please, don't forget to tweet. Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are bound to make and break the outcome in 2012. Okay, that may be a bit of a stretch but sometimes you have to exaggerate to really drive a point home. As outrageous as it may seem I'm predicting that he/she who rules the social networks will ultimately rule the election.
Get a team Mr. President. Not just any team. Employ these young teeny boppers who spend countless hours on these social ...
... networks, tweeting, updating, and uploading who knows what and have them do these things for you. Pay them if you can afford it (and I'm sure you can). Offer incentive for those who know these social networks like the back of their hands to join your team. Using social networks for all the power that they carry could have the world tuned in to what you have to say—even if you haven't much to say at all. It's proven, ask Rebecca Black.
It's already started working against the prez (if I can call him that). Shortly after President Obama's first video for the 2012 campaign went up Tim Pawlenty, former Minnesota governor and potential GOP candidate for the 2012 race released a YouTube video in response. The responding replied In order for America to take a new direction, it's going to take a new president, to a sound bite of Obama asking, How can America win the future when we're losing the present? (Sigh) And this is only the beginning. Rest assured that there are even more clever (I use this term loosely) edits to come.
Another potential GOP hopeful, Mitt Romney, took the bolder approach and spoke to President Obama directly (via Twitter) writing @barackobama I look forward to hearing details on your jobs plan, as are 14m unemployed Americans-currently awaiting the prez's reply.
This is just the way it is now. No need to wait for formal debates to confront opposing issues, lets' hash this thing out on Twitter. We don't need long speeches. Break things down for us in 140 characters of less, we much prefer it that way. Update a Facebook status as a means of keeping us informed on policy and progress. Make a video and upload to YouTube if you have something to say. Do whatever you can and do it fast-social networks wait for no one. Looking for me to vote? Find me at the nearest computer.
