To Configure A Gpo For Software Deployment

1. On Server 1, create a GPO in the West OU. Name the GPO West OU Applications.
Set the No Override option for the mcse 2003 certification West OU Applications GPO in the Group Policy tab in the Properties dialog box for the West OU. This will prevent other GPOs from overriding the policies set in the West OU Applications GPO.
2.Create a console for the West OU Applications GPO. Name the console West OU Applications GPO.
3.For the West OU Applications GPO, set the Full Control permission for the Administrators group to Allow. Clear the Apply Group Policy permission (currently set to Allow) for the Authenticated Users group. Do not set this permission to Deny.
4.Ensure that the West OU Applications GPO applies to the Marketing domain local security group by setting the group's Apply Group Policy permission for the GPO in the West OU Applications Group Policy Object Editor console to Allow.
5.Open the West OU Applications GPO console. In the User Configuration node,Software Settings, right-click the Software Installation node, click New, and then click Package.

... 6.In the Open dialog box, in the mcitp enterprise administrator File Name list, type the UNC path (\\Serverl\Adminpak) to the SDP for the Windows Installer packages (.msi files), select the Adminpak.msi file, and then click Open.
7.When you're asked to select a deployment method, indicate that you want to assign the Adminpak.msi package to users.Close and save the West OU Applications GPO console.
Exercise 4: Testing Software Deployment
In this exercise, you test the deployment of the Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack that you assigned to users.
To test software deployment
1.Log on to Server2 as Userl? in the contoso domain.
2.Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Administrative Tools. In addition to several other new administration tools, you should now be able to see Active Directory Users And Computers, Active Directory Sites And Services, and Active Directory Domains And Trusts in the Administrative Tools menu.
Log off Server2.
For a software deployment with Group Policy, you can set up DPS to automatically direct users to the nearest SDP.
You can define software deployment properties that affect all Windows Installer packages in a GPO.
You can also define software deployment properties that affect comptia exams individual Windows Installer packages in a GPO.
