If you enjoyed the Harry Potter books and movies, you will definitely enjoy the Harry Potter Tour. At the author's request, the movies were filmed entirely in Britain. The filming was done at various locations in London, Gloucester and Oxford.

There are many tours available that range from 3 hours to a few days. Many of the tours include other popular historical UK sights. These do not necessarily appear in the movies, but you may as well see them while you are in the area.

The London leg of the tour will include a visit to King's Cross station. This is where scenes for platform nine and three quarter were filmed. You will be able to see the actual platform where Harry and Voldermort encountered each other. You could have a photo shoot at the trolley which disappeared into the wall. This has actually been installed into the relevant wall.

You can also view the clock tower that Harry and Ron almost crashed into when they tried to fly the Ford Anglia to Hogwarts. Westminster Tube Station was the area that was used for the Ministry of Magic in The Order of the Phoenix. You can also view one of the ...
... red telephone boxes that Mr. Weasley and Harry used to descend into the Ministry.

The scene when Harry becomes aware of his special powers by communicating with snakes was filmed at the London Zoo. You can visit this site in your own time as it is not normally included in the tour. This is due to time constraints.

Many of the school scenes related to Hogwarts were filmed at Oxford University. Many of the staircase scenes, particularly in the first movie where the children are greeted by Professor McGonagall when they arrive, were filmed at this site. The Hogwarts dining room scenes were filmed at this location, as was the infirmary scenes.

The Cathedral of Gloucester was used for quite a few scenes. This building is more than 1300 years old. It was used for the ghost scenes as well as for the scenes featuring Moaning Myrtle. This is the site where the red writing in Hogwarts corridors was filmed. Scenes from the sixth movie were filmed at this cathedral.

Some of the classroom scenes were filmed at Lacock Abbey and this site can be included as an extra. Please note that some of the film locations are actual University colleges and are sometimes closed to the public. If this happens at short notice, your tour guide will do their best to reschedule your tour.
