San Miguel De Allende – A Historic City With Many Attractions
San Miguel de Allende is located in a mountainous region of central Mexico. It’s a very historic city that was founded in the early 16th century. Named after Ignacio Allende, it has become an American enclave since World War II. Many soldiers travelled here after the war to attend one of the two art schools with their GI Bill.
The historic center of the city hasn’t changed much in over 250 years. UNESCO named this area and the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, a nearby church, as World History Sites in 2008. This center of the city includes 64 blocks and is a must see for any visitor. Other points of interest include the Parish of San Miguel, the Ontorio de San Flipe Neri Church, and the Nuestra Senora de la Salud Church. These are beautiful representations of colonial Spanish and Baroque architecture.
The Plaza Civica or the Civic Plaza is the main marketplace of the city. You’ll find all kinds of small shops, restaurants, and bars. Popular souvenir items include brass and glass products, as well as wood and metal products. The food here is full of flavor and you’ll find many street vendors that offer their various ...

The weather is temperate, with highs in the 80s during July and lows in the 50s. There is usually about 12 inches of rain in during July. Many festivals are held in San Miguel de Allende, including one that mimics the “Running of the Bulls’ held in Pamplona, Spain each year. Several of these festivals have deeply religious roots, including Holy Week. However, there are also a number of local cultural festivals that draw thousands each year. Many feature local artists, writers, and musicians.
For those traveling to this great city, you won’t be at a loss for a great hotel San Miguel de Allende. There are your typical chain hotels, but you’ll also find delightful bed and breakfast, luxury rentals, and vacation homes. Some are located in better part of the city than others, so do a bit of homework ahead of time. When booking a vacation home, be sure to use a reputable rental agency to avoid any problems.
Look for hotels that offer amenities, such as complimentary meals or shuttle services. The roads in this city are narrow and paved with cobblestone. While you can rent a car here, it’s not really recommended. There are many cabs, buses, and hotel shuttles to help you get around the city. In addition, because of these old roads, it’s really important to pack a couple pairs of comfortable shoes if you plan on walking very far.
In closing, if you are looking for a great place to get away, then consider this beautiful city. It has so much history and culture, but still maintains enough modern influences to make it comfortable for tourists. You’ll love the wide selection of accommodations and finding a hotel San Miguel de Allende is not difficult. Get ready to truly experience the Mexican culture and have a great time doing so.
