In A Real-world Environment
In the Active Directory Users And Computers console, right-click the Desktop- Redirect mcse training and click Properties.
In the DesktopRedirect Properties dialog box, click the Group Policy tab. Click New. Enter the name DesktopRedirectGPO for the new policy, and press Enter.
Click Edit.
In the Group Policy Object Editor console, expand the following objects: User Configuration, Windows Settings, Folder Redirection.
Right-click the Desktop object and click Properties. The Desktop Properties dialog box opens.
Configure the Setting selection to read: Basic—Redirect Everyone's Folder To The Same Location. Additional setting boxes appear below.
Configure the Target folder location selection box to read: Redirect To The Following Location.
Type \\serverl\desktops in the Root Path text box.
Click the Settings tab. Clear the Grant The User Exclusive Rights To Desktop check box. Also, clear the Move The Contents Of Desktop To The New Location check box. Don't change the Policy Removal option.
Click OK. Close the Group Policy Object Editor ...
... console. Close the DesktopRedirect Properties dialog box.
Run the Repadmin /syncall command to ensure that the domain policies are synchronized as soon as possible. Wait two minutes before you proceed with the next step.
Log off and log on as DesktopUserl. Do you see the text documents that you added to the shared Desktops folder? Can you create new objects on the desktop?
The text documents that were added to mcse 2008 exam the Desktops folder will be visible if the desktop was redirected. The user should not be able to create new files on the Desktop because permissions were set for only Read, Execute, and List Folder Contents.
Log on to Server2 as DesktopUser2. Do you see the text documents that you added to the shared Desktops folder? Can you create new objects on the desktop?
Again, the text documents that were added to the Desktops folder will be visible if the desktop was redirected. The user should not be able to create new files on the Desktop because per?missions were set for only Read, Execute, and List Folder Contents.
Log off DesktopUserl and DesktopUser2.
Log on to Serverl using the domain administrator user name and password.
Open the DesktopRedirectGPO in the Group Policy Object Editor (using the steps described previously).
Open the Desktop Properties dialog box as described previously (under User Configuration, Windows Settings, Folder Redirection, Desktop).
22. Click the Settings tab on the Desktop Properties dialog box.
In the Policy Removal section, select Redirect The Folders Back To The Local MCSA Certification User Profile Location When Policy Is Removed. Click OK. Close the Group Policy
Object Editor. Click OK on the DesktopRedirect Properties dialog box.
