It was an incredible match sandwiched between India Versus Pakistan yesterday and again India had packed down Pakistan in the World Cup and advanced to the final match in this ICC world Cup. Remember SriLanka had previously qualified for the World Cup Final 2011.

Srilanka’s prominent performance this world cup had made their way to the World Cup Final. Srilankans victory in the 1996 World cup led them to an infamous cricket team in the history of Cricket World Cup. Indians are strong in the home soil, but when it comes to knock-out matches they had never won a match against Srilanka in the world cup. Srilanka has the highest winning percentage against the Indian cricket team. But then it’s a world cup match and it’s the most important for a country’s cricket team and the people and it is un-predictable that who will win this Final match on Saturday.
Srilanka previously had beaten Canada by 210 runs in their opening match in their home ground. They put on 322/7 batting first and Canada survived only for 122 runs and all out. In their second match against Pakistan they lost by 11 runs in their home ground which was one of the most un-expected loss in this world cup. Initially Pakistan put on 277/7 on the scoreboard and Srilanka failed to reach the target within the restricted 50 over.

The last two league matches of Srilanka went one one-sided, with Srilanka winning the Zimbabwe by 139 runs and then New-Zealand by 112 runs. Upul Thranga, Dilshan and Sangakkara played a major role in this matches by hitting a ton and led their team to victory.

In the Quarter Finals, Srilanka crushed England by 10 wickets victory with a record partnership of 231 runs from Upul Tharanga and Dilshan against England’s 229 runs.

Since they have already beaten New-Zealand in the league matches, the semi-final with them was not a big fight. Though there was a pitfall in the middle of the match when sangakkara gets out, Mathews and Samaraweera done it for them to reach the Final of World Cup 2011.
