When it comes to Euro 2012 betting tips, it is always a good idea to look at the teams that have won the tournament before as they are most likely to be the more successful teams at the tournament. For these Championships previous winners are, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, The Soviet Union, Denmark, Czechoslovakia and The Netherlands.
However, discounting nations that haven’t won it before could prove a mistake with strong sides like Portugal and England having not won the tournament before.
One fact that must be taken into account are the countries Fifa rankings. These will give a good indication of who is more likely to get out of there groups. However statistics like these can be misleading. England were ranked 6th when they failed to qualify for the tournament in 2008 and even after the abysmal showing by the Three Lions in South Africa it they are still 6th. So are Fifa rankings to be trusted?
Other factors that need to be thought about include:
Injury prone players who if missing could seriously damage the sides chance of winning, a player like Wesley Snijeder being injured for Holland would ...
... pretty much end their chances, as well as an injury to Christiano Ronaldo could theoretically end Portugal’s chances.
Perennial underachievers like England at these tournament s may go into the tournament on a wave of optimism but rarely live up to any of the hype, even with such a talented squad.
Spain go into the tournament as favourites and look to do what no team has ever done and retain the European Championships. Could this count against them? The pressure of it may be what is their downfall, I mean many has been the time when Spain have gone to a major tournament with the most talented squad and come away with little less than a bitter taste in their mouth.
This Spanish squad have an experience of winning in these situations though and have the mentality about them in my opinion to go all the way. This isn’t to say they are guaranteed a victory, far from it.
Spain will be the team to beat at these finals and are certainly anything but unbeatable. Cast your mind back to the World Cup when Switzerland effectively shut out Spain and nicked a cheeky goal to beat the eventual winners.
With so many factors contributing to determining the winner of a major football tournament, we believe it is better to follow professional Euro 2012 betting tips to help win money from online bookmakers.
