Whether your company purchases or leases equipment, technology needs are growing, or are downsizing employees it is inevitable to one day need an outlet for computer liquidation and computer disposal.

Someday sooner or later your firm will face the challenges of liquidating computers, disposing of computers, or recycling computers, and in turn have to select a data destruction or hard drive shredding method.

Financially speaking, the most important thing to consider when looking to sell used laptops, liquidate cisco equipment, or perform a PC disposal project is that time is the enemy of your ROI. Every day retired computer equipment sits in storage it is depreciating in value and becoming less attractive to computer liquidators and IT Asset Disposition firms (ITAD).

It is always a good idea to retire equipment before it is worthless on the refurbished computer market. If a company’s retired IT equipment no longer has market value any legitimate vendor will be forced to charge for computer disposal services. If your firm currently has unusable equipment, it is wise to think about commissioning a mobile ...
... shredding service to destroy the drives that no longer have value anyway.

Another common practice on the corporate side is to select one vendor that can service all offices and all types of surplus IT equipment, so whether your firm is looking to sell used mac computers, liquidate laptops, or dispose of printers they can turn to one provider for all the pickups, reporting, and certifications of proper handling and electronic recycling.

Money is not the only issue to consider, but ultimately is a part of every decision process at a business. Any vendor chosen to purchase retired computer equipment should be capable of DoD wiping drives, hard drive shredding, degaussing, or any other data security method your company feels is best. If a company is not capable of physically destroying drives they will not have a solution for drives that cannot properly wipe weather because of failed sectors or other functional issues that could exist.

When liquidating IT equipment or selling used computers it is always important to also consider what a vendor’s outlet for any necessary computer recycling that might need to take place. If components or machines sold are not working or are not worth fixing, every legitimate vendor should be able to report downstream recycling information as well as provide certificates of destruction to certify a zero landfill policy.

When liquidating IT equipment it is important to take the due diligence necessary to waive environmental and data security liability as well as to ensure your firm is planning and receiving the most money back on the IT asset recovery project. IT Asset Disposition firms and computer liquidators make their quotes on the information you can provide, and the quicker you can act and plan the better returns your company can see.
