Knock! Knock! The summer is knocking at the door but are you ready? To welcome the summer, the best way would be pulling out your linen clothes from the wardrobe. The soft white or light coloured material that touches you with love and care. Close your eyes and think of that soft fabric originating from Flax; simply imagine the touch of linen.

Linen is perfect for all seasons – be it summers or winters. And if you have never thought of having more than a pair of linen pants or skirts in your wardrobe, then think again! Perhaps you don’t like linen because it gets crushed and crumpled easily, but that’s the best thing about linen clothes. They give you the comfort feel, and make you feel that you are at home. Linen is casual but it has the power to give you that sophisticated look also.

Linen gives your skin a chance to breathe and feel at ease. Linen is known for its anti bacterial quality. Since it is light in texture, linen is easy to handle and could be woven as clothes for children, old people, for almost everyone. The history of linen could take us thousands of years back. In fact it was used for mummification. So it could be said that linen was associated with preservation. Also, linen finds its mention in Bible many times. For instance, in John 19:40

“Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.”

Linen’s been also mentioned in John 20:5-7 (KJV)

“And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.

Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,

And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.”

Also in many other passages in Bible linen has been mentioned.
