Traveling To Floridas Biscayne National Park

Biscayne National Park is in Florida on the southeastern Atlantic coast. There is no charge to enter the park but fees are charged for camping and docking boats overnight. The park’s extends over 170,000 acres, almost 95% of which is under water. There are 45 low islands in the park, called keys. Visitors can participate in many types of water activities in the park. There are also some things to do on land.

What To Do On Land

Visitors can learn about the park at the Dante Fascell Visitor Center at Convoy Point. Exhibits in the museum focus on the park’s ecosystems and artwork inspired by the park is displayed in a gallery and films are shown here, as well. Visitors can touch bones, coral and other items at the Touch Table. Educational items are sold in the bookstore and souvenirs are sold in the gift shop.

There are places to picnic near the Visitor Center and there is a short walking trail on Convoy Point and fishing is allowed in the area. What To Do On The Water

Visitors can explore the park in their own boats or take guided boat tours. Underwater life in the park can be viewed on the glass bottom boat tours. Boaters who do not bring their boats can rent kayaks or canoes. The shallow reefs in the park provide snorkelers with a close view of underwater marine life and dive trips are available on weekends.

Where To Stay And Eat

There are no Biscayne National Park hotels or restaurants at the park. Park visitors will find amazing hotels nearby where they can stay while visiting the park. There are Biscayne Bay hotels on the shores of the bay. Biscayne National Park is about 35 miles south of Miami. Travelers will find some Biscayne National Park hotels and Biscayne Bay hotels in Miami.

Park visitors can enjoy seafood at waterfront restaurants in Miami. Cuban, Italian and Mexican food are some of the choices at Miami’s downtown restaurants. Biscayne National Park visitors will find a lot to do at the park and on the beaches in the surrounding area. Come for the park and make an entire vacation out of it.
