When the festive holiday season is round the corner, how can parties and holiday dinners be far behind. If you are worrying about those extra calories that might be gained, all you need to do is incorporate these simple and easy tips into your daily routine. You can wake up thinner, happier and more energized than you are right now.

* Pay attention before the party

There is a rule of thumb among dieters that you should never grocery shop on an empty stomach because you will be tempted to buy junk food that is bad for you. Apply this principle to the holiday season and avoid attending parties and functions on an empty stomach as this will leave you more susceptible to temptation in the form of sugary sweets and bountiful buffets. While getting ready to go out, eat a small snack like some vegetables or a granola bar to help curb your appetite.

* Control yourself during holidays

Be sure to eat a high-fiber breakfast with some protein the morning of a holiday or big party. The fiber and protein will help keep you satisfied and less likely to over consume later in the day. Keep fruit, lowfat trail mix, ...

Exercise and physical activity is a great way to help combat those extra holiday calories. Take the dog for a walk, go swimming, ride a bicycle or go ice-skating. Keep up your exercise program – even if you need to take it down a notch – by scheduling in your exercise like doctors’ appointments.

* Rest up

Be sure to get enough sleep. Sleep deprivation also alters hormone levels and your capacity to metabolize carbohydrates. Lack of sleep causes overeating! Staying up late just be likely making you get much more calories. In addition, sleep deprivation is a game breaker.
