Have you ever started packing for a trip just moments before you should actually be headed out the door? Have you ever been on a rush to get to the airport and didn't have time to check in for your flight from home? Well there is now an app for that. Delta has teamed up with 8thBridge, a development company, to utilize their app that allows Delta customers to check-in via their Facebook account. This makes them the first airline to link up with this social networking site. Although Delta already has apps for many mobile networks, they made a groundbreaking move by offering this kind of service through Facebook as well. Not only can users check-in, but they can also check their SkyMiles, purchase tickets, determine the appropriate gate number and get flight status.

The convenience of this app makes the whole travel experience that much more simplified. You don't have to worry about checking in at the airport or from your computer. You can simply use your smartphone to do what you need to do. What Delta has done with their Facebook app is visionary. Many people access their Facebook more than any other site to ...
... share and get the latest information. It only made sense for Delta to capitalize on this and offer a service to clients that just might give more of their business to Delta because of this convenience.

With all the security measures and checkpoints required for travel it's nice to have something that makes the process easier. Between the body scans and paying for luggage, traveling by airplane has become somewhat of a drag. It is hard enough to find a flight that is reasonably priced, but you also have to put up with long lines as well. Delta is definitely on to something that I am sure other airlines will mimic as soon as possible.

As social networking sites continue to flourish and dominate, internet usage trends will no doubt be centered on sites like Twitter and Facebook. Companies should continue to innovate and reach consumers where they are, which is online from their phone. An online mobile presence that is informative isn't enough. Consumers want to be able to interact on multiple levels in order to make their lives hassle free. Other airlines should follow in the footsteps of Delta.

This just demonstrates the power of social networking. Social networking sites seemingly have no bounds and limitations. I can't imagine that they will ever become obsolete. I wonder how we will check in for a flight in fifty years. Social media and networking has put the world at our fingertips. Nothing is beyond reach. All that is needed is imagination and knowhow. Every app developer and programmer with enough balls and imagination has the potential to create something that the world will find to be necessary. I think that the potential for mobile apps and social networks is far greater than most people can even dream of.
