Okay, so I was admittedly out of the loop. No idea how I neglected to get the memo that Groupon and other like discount companies existed offering savings unimaginable, but I did. Glad I got from under the rock I'd dwelled under for so long because this service is simply awesome! A little enlightenment for those of you that might've found a similar place under a rock and have no clue what Groupon is and how it can save you tons of money. Groupon.com is a website that offers deals-of-the-day ranging from deals on massages, to food, to jet-skiing and another other deals you can imagine based on your location.

All you have to do to receive notifications of deals on Groupon is to sign up-just that simple. Enter your email address to be included on the mailing list on the Groupon website and every morning you wake to saving opportunities. Groupon is fairly new (if you consider establishment 3 years ago to be new in your book) and serves over 150 markets in the United States. The deals offered to you will be based on your market, which can be changed at any time if you move or take a vacation but don't want to miss out on savings. ...
... I'm honestly not sure how this service offers such substantial discounts on things that would otherwise be costly just because I've given them my email address but I'm certainly not complaining. It's amazing.

Now that I've gotten you all caught up let me detail you on the newest Groupon venture. Groupon is setting up to launch a new mobile application, known as Groupon Now, that's even more exciting (if that's at all possible) than traditional Groupon. With this new smartphone application a user will be prompted with two options: I'm hungry and I'm bored. Clicking either of these options will reveal a time-specific list of discounted things to do or things to eat near you. Here's an example: You're driving down the street and a hunger pain hits. You then notify Groupon that you're hungry and Groupon will give you an allotted time to get to a restaurant near you to seize a deal! Imagine that.

This service is not only good for you as a consumer, this service also helps businesses. Businesses can now alter deals to cater to times of day that they would like more customers. If it's a Wednesday afternoon and business is particularly slower, the business can now throw a Groupon Now deal out there and watch all the discount lovers flock. This presents an ideal way for businesses to plan for days in terms of staff and inventory. No need in food being wasted and staff standing around if no one's being served. Resources will no longer be wasted with the implementation of Groupon Now-ideally speaking, of course.

According to Groupon, Groupon Now is the future of local commerce and I must say that I agree. Strike a deal when hunger strikes? Sure, why not.
