Unsightly Skin Pigmentation – Avoid them 10 years ahead!

Hyper-pigmentation also known as age spots caused by the sun’s rays, it can also be caused by hormones issues.

Hyper-pigmentation is created throughout our lifetime through the exposure to UVA, and UVA is ultra violet ray that is responsible for sun spots and age spots. UVA come through the atmosphere all the time although it can raining, or it can be snowing, as long there is some sun light, UVA will still be present and caused pigmentation to your skin. Even if after you get some damage, you want to prevent further damage.

Usually what you are seeing with sunspots and hyper-pigmentation has been created 10 years ahead of that. So, by starting to protect yourself now, you are making yourself look better 10 years later! Therefore, the number 1 thing you would want to do is to protect yourself from the sun your whole life! In fact, a child of 2 year of age and older should use a sunscreen daily.
You can protect yourselves and prevent formation of pigmentations on your skin by using products available in the market; the most common are application ...
... of sunscreens and using exfoliators. We highly recommend that you have this good habit of using these 2 products if you want to stay away from unsightly pigmentations.

Exfoliation. Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin's outermost surface to reveal the newer skin beneath. This shedding of the outer not only aids removal of some pigmentation, it also unclogs pores, keeps skin clean, and helps reduce acne breakouts. Exfoliation is involved in the process of a facial and during body treatments at spas. At your own time, you can do this conveniently without having to spend extra time and money on facial and spa services. All you need is a suitable product which cost you much less than opting for facial services and a few minutes of your time to renew your skin.

Sunscreen Application. As mentioned, one should start protecting themselves from the harmful UVA rays of the sun as early as 2 years old. However, note that sunscreens on infants are not recommended as they have delicate skin and might develop skin irritations or other allergy reactions. But still always keep in mind that sunscreen should not be your first choice of protecting your skin from UV radiation since it does not provide complete protection. The best protection against sun related skin damage is to stay out of the sun. Here, we’d like to share some tips on wearing a sunscreen protection.
1. Selection. Always choose a sunscreen with both UVA and UVB protection to ensure you are protected from both types of harmful UV rays.

2. Any area of skin that is exposed to the sun must be covered by sunscreen. It is recommended to apply while you change out. Do note areas that are easily missed out such as edges of swimsuits or the top of the feet, the bare spots on the scalp, as well as the ears and back of your neck.

3. Re-application is a must. Sunscreen is not a coat of armor, it needs to be reapplied especially if you are engaging in water activities, even if you are using waterproof sunscreen which might stay slightly longer, you will still have to reapply almost as often to stay protected. The time it takes a sunscreen to burn out is the time you will get burned multiplied by the level of SPF protection the sunscreen has. For example, if you use a sunscreen with SPF 30 and you usually burn in 5 minutes, you will now burn in 150 minutes. Thus, using a sunscreen with higher SPF would allow you to stay protected longer. However, do note that higher SPF means that it is oilier. Thus, if you have oily or sensitive skin, use a lower SPF sunscreen and apply more frequently to avoid other problems such as the appearance of acne and pimples.

4. Sunscreen is not perfect. Places such as the scalp which is impossible for us to apply sunscreen on still burns, get a cap or hat to cover those places. The Lips are also part of our skin; all you need is a lip balm that is SPF infused.
Remember! Sunscreen is not a beach only product, you come in contact with the sun all the time, so do remember to wear protection each time you step out of your shelter!
