Angina Prevention And Its Medications
Angina is often described as pressure, squeezing, burning, or tightness in the chest. Pain and discomfort usually starts in the chest behind the breastbone. Angina symptoms include having an upset stomach. Symptoms also vary based on the type of angina affecting an individual. Following are the types of angina: stable angina, unstable angina, microvascular angina. Stable angina occurs when person experiences gas or indigestion, chest pain that spreads to the arms, back, or other areas, heart has to work harder. Unstable angina occurs when person has a feeling of suffering from the worst, like a heart attack when at rest. Microvascular angina occurs when person faces shortness of breath, lack of energy etc.
Pain in angina is constant or continuous while it lasts and is never sharp or stabbing and lasts just a few seconds in duration. It may feel like indigestion to the affected. Angina prevention can be treated with lifestyle changes, medicines, medical procedures, cardiac rehabilitation or rehab and other therapies. The main goal to treat angina is to reduce the pain and discomfort and the interval at which it occurs, prevent or lower risk of heart attack and death by treating the underlying heart condition. By adopting a healthy life style a person can avoid angina triggers, follow up a healthy diet regularly, maintain healthy weight, quit smoking, use meditation for stress and relax, take medicines as per doctor’s prescription. Person should prevent angina and heart disease by treating related conditions such as high blood cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and overweight or obesity. If person have one or more of these conditions they should take advice of a doctor or from experts.
Angina medications provide immediate relief from angina. If medication is taken at normal dose levels and if exercise is also included then there is a possibility of side effects. It is commonly know that caffeine present in medication, coffee, coals and aspirin are stimulants. Person should avoid cold medication, diet pills, allergy remedies and herbal teas which contain ingredients that increase heart beat rates. One should avoid medications that may over stimulate the body, thereby making it hyperactive whereas other medications make a person lethargic.
There are four types of mainstream prescription drugs available for angina treatments like beta blockers, nitroglycerin, calcium antagonists, and anti platelet drugs that are more beneficial for angina. Herbal medicine can also be used to treat angina. Aspirin is a blood thinner which makes blood flow easier to different parts of body. Aspirin can help dissolve small blood clots causing angina pains. Magnesium with B vitamins provides relief of this symptom. If the disease is severe, magnesium injections are recommended by experts. Food therapy can also help in some extreme cases; an intake of low fat vegetarian diet may even a save person from further complications. Eating salads with dark green leaves such as spinach and turnip greens are advised. Exercise helps a lot in preventing heart disease as well as symptoms that can cause discomfort. Doing regular cardio workouts help strengthen the heart.
