I have heard accounts from people who say that they found treasure under the edge of cement slabs and big rocks in rest areas. I met this older gentleman a while back who had a fear of banks. He owned a farm, had lots of cattle and he also owned some houses that he rented. His family never knew what he did with his money, no one did. A few years ago someone stole all his money. I found out he had his money hidden in an old hollow tree of all places. Some farmers never trusted banks so they hid their money in old pump houses. They would dig a hole in the ground inside the pump house; they would put their valuables inside the hole and then cover it up. Why would they do such a thing?
One obvious reason was to keep their valuables away from thieves. Why did people bury their treasure under rocks, the edge of a cement slab, inside pipes, or inside their pump house? They did this because they used the rock, pipes etc….. as markers. This was how they would know where they buried the loot.
There’s also a story of a man who worked in the mines and everyday at lunch time he would explore a certain area of ...
... the mountain because he was fascinated by it. One day while walking on the mountain he met an old man and they talked and became friends. Everyday he would go back to the same place to talk to his new friend until one day the old man took him far into the mountain where he asked him to help him remove a large rock. It was heavy but they were able to move in just enough to reveal a hole in the mountain. The old man told him that he had been saving all his money under that rock for years and years and that when he died he wanted the young man to have it. It’s a great story and as I said before big rocks make great markers. Next time you go to an old farm house that has a pump house, check it out. Use your metal detector on the ground of the pump house and a flash light to look inside old pipes; you just might be pleasantly surprised.
