Like playing video games at your home the whole day long? Well, here’s a little history that might interest you - Home video game console dates back to the 1970’s when the first Magnavox Odyssey was launched. It was a big experiment and quite a risk taken by its designer Ralph Baer who successfully proved that consoles for home could very well be turned into a reality. A few years later the Magnavox Odyssey 100 was released which could play two games: Tennis and Hockey. A revised and improved version, the Odyssey 200 added another game and the high point of this latest version was that it could also be played by two or four players.

In the next decade, major improvements were made, like the first automatic TV switch box allowing the TV to switch automatically from regular viewing to the game system on activation and also the revolutionary new controller with a joystick, keypad, buttons and function keys. The 1990’s brought a lot of success for video games as the companies tried their utmost to make them smaller and sleeker and hence became less costly.

Nintendo started producing their consoles and soon ...
... became the best selling of that era even at the price of $200! Its success introduced the most interesting accessories ever like the dish drive that allowed games to be downloaded from vending machines into a disk.

The PlayStation, first launched in 1994 changed the entire concept of gaming and has enjoyed unprecedented success since then. It was however in the 21st century that video games actually became a sensation with Microsoft releasing its Xbox, Sony releasing the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo, the Wii. The latest from Sony, the PlayStation 3 or the PS3 has plenty of new features including in-built Wi-Fi and Blu-ray player and huge storage capacity which can be used for games, videos, photos, anything! The very first PS3 prices were $499 for a 20 GB model and $599 for the 60 GB one. The PS3 prices haven’t dropped much though, with the cheapest one costing around $299 presently! Therefore, for one of the finest gaming experiences, you do have to pay a fine price too!
