Lse Website Visitors Face Malware Scare

Recently, London Stock Exchange (LSE) suffered yet another disruption after a virus attack on the website. The website has been infected with a malware. Google has listed the site as suspicious and has warned users against visiting the site. The latest safe browsing statistics from Google reveal that 363 pages out of 1112 pages tested by the company over the last 90 days resulted in download of malicious software. The malicious content was downloaded and executed on the computers without authorization of the user. Internet users accessing the website with Chrome, Firefox and Safari web browsers are most likely to be infected by the malware. The attack follows an earlier disruption associated with real-time data transmission.
According to Google, the malicious software includes two Trojans, two scripting exploits and one exploit. The company adds that the malignant software is hosted on stripli.com/, mowield.cz.cc/ and cvi3.co.cc/ domains. Unanimis.co.uk/ and borsaitaliana.it/ are the two domains, which are transmitting the malware to the systems of website visitors as intermediaries.
The malware is alleged to ...
... have been caused by a third-party advertisement on the website of London stock exchange. Once executed, the software seeks a message saying that the computer is infected and requires installation of anti-virus software.
In the recent times, attackers have used sophisticated malware, which once installed in the computer system of the user are capable of extracting confidential user information. The collected information is then transmitted to a remote server without the knowledge of the affected user. Unwary users fall prey to attacker tactics by clicking on a malicious link.
Introduction of online degree and diploma programs on cyber security may help Internet users in understanding the various types of threats, preventive and mitigating measures.
Cyber space is riddled with threats and websites are one of the major targets of cybercriminals. IT professionals qualified in security certifications such as masters of security science and ethical hacking may help in timely identification of weaknesses or coding errors, which may allow an attacker to inject malicious software on the web pages.
Critical institutions are always on the radar of cybercriminals. Cyber threats need to be dealt with proactively. Online University degree courses may help security professionals in improvising and updating their IT security skills.
