Designing A Fully Featured Emergency Lighting System For Your Vehicle
Designing a fully featured emergency lighting system for your vehicle can be a tricky proposition. You want to make sure that people will see you coming, but you don't want to turn your car into a travelling circus or make it look just like a police car. But, there are some areas where you should have emergency lighting no matter what - on your roof, on your grill, and on your dashboard.
The first place everyone thinks of when speaking of emergency lighting is the roof. There is a good reason for this. When you have lights flashing on the roof of your vehicle, people will probably assume you are a police car and they will get out of your way. They are very visible and easy to attach. But, they just happen to be the most "bulky" of the emergency lighting world. When you attach them to your car, everyone will be able to see them at all times and they may actually mistake you for a police car - this could be a bad thing. There are many light bars and different lighting systems designed for the roof of your car that will do a great job keeping you safe!
Next, your front grill should have ...
... some kind of emergency lighting attached to it. The great thing about front grill emergency lighting is that is can be hidden behind the grill, so you won't be able to see them until you actually turn the lights on. This level of concealment is one of the reasons so many people use grill lights when designing their lighting system. Now, you will need to check out what's behind your grill and see how big your grill actually is. Many modern cars have very small, flimsy grills that are not the best for mounting lights on them. Do your research and check out the lighting options that are available. You may be surprised with the size of the lights that can be fitted behind a grill.
Lastly, your dashboard is a great place to have some emergency lighting. You may think that this will cause problems because it is on the interior of your vehicle, but there are reflectors on the back that will prevent the light from interacting with your sight. You can get some permanent dashboard emergency lighting that is fastened in place, or you can get some temporary lights that you can place on your dash using suction cups only when you need them. You will need to consider the size of your dashboard as well. Some of the systems are quite large and will not fit on the dash of smaller vehicles. The windshield is usually the first place people look when they see a car coming at them, so dashboard lights are a great place to have some high quality lighting.
If you are a first responder, you should at least have some form of emergency lighting on your roof, on your grill and on your dashboard. There are many other places where you can add lights later on, but there are the main areas that you should focus on when it comes to designing your emergency lighting system.
