A Preschooler is a child between the ages of 3 to 6 and it is a highly crucial stage as rapid development occurs in all aspects during this time - emotional, mental, psychological and social. Therefore, it is necessary that for proper all-round brain and body development, preschool activities should be selected with due care and attention.

These activities mostly include games and story telling that deal with motor skills, number skills and counting, with recognizing alphabets and words, pre-reading and reading skills. Creative activities such as colouring and scissor works are also included. Below are a few tips in order to ensure that your child grows and develops and matures perfectly:

Show pictures and let your child recognize shapes, colours, animals, birds, vegetables, fruits, alphabets and numbers.
After a child starts recognizing colours, start cutting out shapes of vegetables, fruits and animals and tell your child to colour them accordingly (an apple red, a potato brown, a ...
... parrot green and so on). Write your child's name on the top of every sheet spelling it out loudly and clearly every time.
Teach your child counting with the help of stairs.
Read out a story to your child every night. They help develop imagination, creativity and language skills.
Physical games are equally important and so encourage your child to play outdoors in the garden and in parks. Your child should run around, climb up small trees and fences, play with toys, and ride on bikes in order to develop good motor skills.
Sing familiar songs and favourite nursery rhymes aloud with your child and add body movements and finger plays to help him/her remember easily.
Draw together and make a story about the picture. Tell your child to do the same.
Show your child videos of animals and how they move and then encourage them to imitate them (like creep like a snake, hop like a kangaroo or gallop like a horse).
Use puzzles, jumble up order of alphabets and small words and ask your child to sort it out.
Finally, don't forget to encourage your child every time. Children of this stage usually feel very proud of their accomplishments and like to be praised.
