The only thing that is new is the newer models, designs and techniques of solar water heaters along with our awareness for conserving exhaustive sources of energy. The recent solar energy products are more cost efficient and easy to use. Solar heaters comprise of one or two solar collector panels, which are installed on the roof. These panels look like skylights and are approximately 4 feet wide and 8-10 feet long.

Choose the Type of Solar Water Heating System

Solar Water Heating System is of two types:

Direct systems (one that heats water directly)
This system is beneficial if you live in a region where there is no frost and the water available has a low chemical content.
Indirect systems (heat exchange system facilitates water heating)
This system should be opted if the area that you live in is prone to frost and mineral content in water is high.

Analyze your Requirement

The model of solar products like water heaters is mainly based on your needs so it is important for you to determine your requirement. Assign 50 liters of water usage per person along with 50 liters of general usage of hot water. Also, keep in mind the weather conditions that you live in.

Water Storage

There are two types of water storage tanks:

Pumped storage (a pump aides the movement of water by force)
This type of storage should be chosen if you wish to locate the tank in a place where it cannot be seen and is away from the solar panel.
Thermosyphon storage (the storage tank is placed above the solar panel, most likely on the roof and water moves through natural convection)
This type of water storage is best if your roof can support the weight of the tank and do not have a problem with the fact that the tank is viewable on the roof.
