Renaming And Restructuring Domains And Renaming Domain Controllers
To rename a domain controller, complete the following steps:
1.Click Start, and then click Command Prompt.
2.At the command prompt, type, netdom computername CurrentComputer Name /addiNewComputerName, where CurrentComputerName is the current

Wait for the replication of the domain controller locator resource records to occur on all authoritative DNS servers. To ensure that the domain controller has been successfully renamed, make the following checks:
Q Click Start, point to Control Panel, and then click System. On the Computer Name tab, verify that the correct name appears after Full Computer Name. Click Cancel.

At the command prompt, validate the names that the computer is currently configured with by typing: netdom computername NewComputerName /enumerate:, where NewComputerName is the new name of the domain controller. Note that the domain controller has two names.
8.At the command prompt, type: netdom computername NewComputerName /remave:OldComputerName, where NewComputerName is the new name of the domain controller and OldComputerName is the old name of the domain controller. This action removes the old domain controller name.
Both the old and new domain controller names are maintained until you remove the old domain controller name (shown in step 8).
