Cisco Systems Hwic-4esw And Esw-poe Entryway Comparing For Beginners
HWIC-4ESW Vs. HWIC-4ESW-POE
The HWIC-4ESW EtherSwitch 10/100
high-speed card interface WAN HWIC supported on Cisco 1800 (Modular) / 1941
Cisco 2800/2900, 3800/3900 series and Cisco integrated services routers offer
small businesses to large customers and branch offices an option to adapt
switching and routing in one device. This combination enables ease of
configuration, deployment and management while using the strong characteristics
of Cisco routing and Cisco Catalyst Switch Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC modular
features.
They are capable of providing line-rate Layer 2 switching between
Ethernet ports using Cisco IOS Catalyst Software.
Features such as autonomous port detection, Quality of Service, VLAN support
from 802.1p and 802.1Q standards, and 802.1D Spanning Tree protocols are
standard feats on the Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC. Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC is
available in standard 4 or 9 - port 10/100BASE-TX switch HWIC and
Power-over-Ethernet configurations. 4-port Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC has four
10/100 Ethernet ports on ...
... the top, with capabilities for inline power support for
all four ports. 9-port Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC has nine on 10/100 Ethernet ports,
with options for inline power support for 8 and 9 gates. The ninth port does not
support inline power but is enabled to be used as a regular switch port for the
cable channels and other standard data applications. The PoE configurations
consist of a 4- or 9-port 10/100 BASE-TX and a 4 - or 8-port card inline power
daughter module. The power module daughter card houses a power controller for
detection, classification, and allow the power to 802.3af powered devices
attached to the HWIC's. The online version of power Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC can
power Cisco IP phones, Cisco wireless access points, or any IEEE 802.3af
compliant device. Support for optional power line 4 - and 9-port Cisco HWIC
2800/2900 and 3800/3900 series routers Cisco integrated services requires the
use of a field replaceable power line.
A HWIC-4ESW
in a branch office's data deployment provides the flexibility to integrate
routing and switching functions in one unit for low port density. This
deployment provides high-speed connections between computers, servers and other
network resources in a single unit of Layer 2 and allows WAN connection at Layer
3 router. 4- or 9-port Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC when combined with voice modules
for analog or digital Cisco Integrated Services give the enterprise
infrastructure deployments small and large branches of IP telephony. This
solution can be combined with Cisco CallManager Express IP phone or Cisco IOS
Survivable Remote Site Telephony. SRST runs on the local branch of the router,
allowing it to automatically detect a network failure, and initiate a process of
intelligence to automatically configure the router to provide call processing
redundancy backup for IP phones in the office. In the case of an implementation
of CallManager Express, the call processing functions are available on the
branch router without a call manager.
HWIC-4ESW-POE
optional internal chassis provides IP phone power and phone discovery for IP
phones. In addition, the HWIC-4ESW-POE supports different VLAN settings for IP
phones. Auxiliary VLAN feature allows network administrators to segment phones
in different logical networks, even if the data and voice infrastructures are
physically the same. This feature allows the discovery of Cisco 4- and 9-port
EtherSwitch HWIC (code HWIC-4ESW-POE or HWIC-D-9ESW-POE) to automatically detect
the IP phone and power line. 4 - and 9-port Cisco EtherSwitch HWIC 10/100Base-T
managed Layer 2 switch HWIC form factor for Cisco Integrated Services Router.
4-port HWIC form factor will be a 9-port HWIC size and in double-width form
factor. The switch supports IEEE 802.1D Spanning Tree Protocol and can connect
up to 4 or 9 local area networks up to 15 IEEE 802.1Q-based VLAN (802.1Q).
Note: Both HWIC 4- and 9-port HWIC support up to 15 VLANs. They can also
be optionally configured to provide 4 or 8 port 802.3af inline power or Cisco
PoE equipment. PoE support is not available for the Cisco 1841.
