Your engagement ring is not just any other piece of jewelry you might possess. It is a symbolism of the great love that you and your partner have for each other. Also, it is a constant reminder that you are in the phase of preparing yourself to share the rest of your life with someone that you are truly convinced to be your lifelong partner. Since majority of the engagement rings actually have intricate designs which may easily be destroyed when exposed to impact or pressure, it is just necessary that appropriate care be given to the engagement ring. Here are tips on how to ensure that the life and beauty of your engagement ring is heightened.

Take off the ring whenever you do anything strenuous

There are several activities which are part of our routine that involves pressure and impacts. Such include sports, exercises, and typical household chores. Before you start any of these, make sure to take your ring off your finger. This is to ensure that no matter how rigorous the activity you will be engaging in, no part of your ring nor your finger will be destroyed or hurt.

Place your ring in appropriate and ...
... safe places

Whenever you are not wearing your ring or whenever you need to take it off, make sure that you have a safe place to put it. By determining a spot where you might put the box for your ring, you will be spared from accidentally misplacing it. Also, never put your ring in places that are considered vulnerable such as the toilet, bathtubs or kitchen sink. Your ring can be easily lost in these areas and can be drained to your sewerage.

Keep it Clean but not too much

Dirt can also accumulate within the ring. To keep its sheen, make sure to clean the ring at least once a week. Follow the jeweler's advice on how to clean it or search online for appropriate cleaning method for your ring. Although you need to keep the ring clean, do not over clean it though for it may make the gem thinner. Also make sure not to use strong chemicals whenever you take dirt off your ring. Strong chemicals may discolor or dissolve the metal or the stones. The best way is simply to wash the ring with mild liquid detergent and water.

Ensure your ring

For safety, it would be best if you will get insurance for your engagement ring against theft, loss or accidental damage. Be sure that you will get one in a reliable insurance company.
