Credit Bureau Phone Number
The three major credit bureaus work to collect information about how you are using your credit. Information such as your financial history, accounts you’ve closed and opened, credit inquiries from the last 2 years, and public records (meaning bankruptcies, foreclosures, lawsuits, and things like that) is all included in your credit report compiled by credit bureaus.
The three main credit bureaus are:
* Experian †1-888-397-3742
* TransUnion †1-800-888-4213
* Equifax †1-800-685-1111
So, what can you accomplish by calling these numbers? Not a whole lot. The automated system doesn’t allow you to speak to a person directly. However, the recording does provide you with information on the company’s website, and tell you what you can find there, like tips and tricks for improving your credit score, requesting a credit report and so forth. You can also request your credit report from the automated system. But, be prepared to provide your personal information, and pay if you have to, at that time. Should you ...
... have to pay, the system will tell you how much they charge depending on your state’s laws. For example, when Experian is called from Miami, FL, the recording states the fee will be $7.95 based on the area code the call was made from. The recording also explains that your credit report will include a separate phone number that will allow you to speak with a live representative and give you priority treatment, should you have questions or need to dispute something in your report.
However, calling these companies is not the most effective way to get things done when it comes to improving your credit score. Often, visiting their website is a hassle free way to request your credit report, as well as get answers to any questions you may have. Additionally, most agencies require you to file disputes in writing.
That’s where a company like Creditelves comes in. If you do find a mistake or inaccuracy on your credit report, Creditelves knows the procedure well to help you file your claim. They can provide templates for your letter and help you compile everything you need to help your letter be as successful as possible at improving your credit score. Your Creditelves letter will include your specific personal information, details regarding the inaccuracy in your credit report, any proof you have to demonstrate there is an error as well as anything else that may be pertinent to making your case.
Should you decide to go the written route, rather than calling, they have 30 days to respond to your dispute after it’s received. If they deny your request for a change in your credit report, you can try again, contact the original creditor or add a note to your report explaining the entry in question. If they agree with you, they will either remove the offending entry entirely or amend your credit report to clearly show their investigations findings.
Although you may feel going the written route will take longer than simply calling the credit bureau, it’s not the best way to accomplish anything as you can’t speak directly to a person. Creditelves understands how to effectively get in contact with the various credit bureaus and has been doing so for years. Visit www.creditelves.com for more information.
