Defensive Driving Classes In Houston Texas
If you’ve recently gotten a speeding ticket around Houston, then you’re probably wondering where all the traffic clinics are. Online! That’s where they are.
Although traditional classes do exist at locations serving the public, you won’t have to step foot in one. Defensive driving classes in Houston can be a hassle, particularly if you don’t have enough time in your day to devote 6 hours to a crowded public office. Luckily, you can take an approved course from the comfort and privacy of your home, during what would otherwise be down time for you.
If you have reservations about doing it online because you aren’t sure that the defensive driving courses offered there are legitimate, don’t be. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) provides a list of all approved courses that can be used to alleviate traffic fines right on their website, so you can easily check to see if the course you are taking is worth taking. Moreover, many online companies will specifically state that they offer only TEA courses, and ...
... exist solely to help you face traffic court.
All you’ll need to complete a course online is your driver’s license and your vehicle registration. While you’re taking the course, you will also be asked personal questions that can be independently verified in third-party databases. These measures, along with your documents, will be used to verify your identity, and to make sure that the correct person is taking the course. This also provides a defense against fraud.
At a normal traffic clinic in Houston, you’d have to sit all day to take the test, but online you can break it up as often as you wish. Here at Defensive Driving Solutions, we give you access for up to 90 days. That means that you have 90 days after you sign up to complete the course. You can log in any amount of times. The cost is $25. The state of Texas has decreed that any defensive driving course taken for the purpose of getting a traffic ticket reduced or dismissed, has to cost a minimum of $25, so you’ll be paying the lowest possible amount.
Once your defensive driving course is completed, a completion certificate will be mailed to you. There will also be a completion certificate included just for your auto-insurance provider. You can use this to get a 10% discount on your auto insurance. If the insurance company accepts it, you’ll have the reduced rate for three years, after which you can complete another course for resubmission.
The good thing is that, if you don’t have another traffic ticket to contend with, you can get the defensive driving course to continue your insurance discount, and pay less than $25 for it. Remember, only the $25 ones can be used for traffic court, but you can pay less if you’re not going to use it for that purpose. Although, if you can’t seem to stop speeding around Houston, you might as well pay the $25 and get both functions out of it in case you might need it.
