Expert Movie Reviews

Ever thought about writing movie reviews? Well, now's your chance! Are you an expert on a particular genre of movies, such as sitcoms, horror, westerns, or thrillers? Or do you know more than all your friends about a particular subject, say, cooking, guns, planes, or government politics? Whatever your specialty, other moviegoers want to hear from you.
Online movie sites are all over the place nowadays, and you can read other people's movie reviews on almost anything from classic comedies to modern political thrillers and science fantasy. But do you really trust the opinions of those people whose writing you're reading? Movie Vault actively encourages people who know their stuff to come out of the closet and give their opinions, so if you've ever felt like sounding off about the continuity errors in an otherwise great film, or the non-period bloopers in a Jane Austen period piece, now's your chance. You could become part of the hip scene in movie news!
If you've never written movie reviews before, the best way to start is to read a few of other people's pieces. Pick one or two you like, and analyze how they've organized ...
... their facts and comments. It's usually best to open your movie review with a quick overview of the basic story, obviously without giving away any surprise endings or plot twists, and note the genre the film fits within. If you can, name a couple of movies that people will be familiar with, and say that if they like those, they'll like this one (or not!)
If you are talking about a recent film that's currently hot in movie news circles, or one that's been tipped for a movie gong, you can probably include some thoughts about it from other people, like the film's stars, or directors. You can find these fairly easily online. But remember other people can find the same movie news just as easily, so only include snippets that are relevant to your slant or opinion in the piece, and always comment on them, whether you approve or disapprove, agree or disagree, with what they say. A movie review is primarily about saying what YOU think.
And if you have insider info, or are into the same hobbies as one or more of the characters, you can really get your teeth into things and get that movie news out there to the people! Try and come up with interesting facts that the film uses, that other people might miss, and make movie news yourself. Because if you write a great movie review that isn't just about the usual reactions, but really looks at the details in one or more scene, you've a chance of getting to be part of the movie news scene yourself - and you may even find you get asked to be a consultant on the next movie that relates to your specialty!
