When you think about it we ask a lot of our guttering. Whether it is the gutters that are installed on a commercial property or on our homes, they have a very important job to do.

All the rainwater that runs off the roof will go into the gutters and be sent down the drainpipes to the drains. As such it will not damage the rest of the house or flood anywhere - that is, if it is working correctly and it is not damaged or blocked in any way.

We all know the weather can be very challenging at times. No one can foresee a flash flood or downpour of a huge amount of rain. But it doesn't always take that much rain to cause a problem.

If cleaning gutters isn't something you like to do - perhaps because of the height or the inability to reach them easily - you should consider the advantages of getting it done professionally. Over time gutters can become clogged with all kinds of things. For example leaves coming off the trees in the autumn can land in the gutters, blocking the drainpipes and leading to the whole system ...
... not working as well as it should.

Bad weather conditions and old guttering can also mean that rain gutter repair is needed. It is well worth looking to see if your guttering is in good condition - you can do this even when it isn't raining. Just look to see if all the gutters are in the positions they should be in. It is easy for them to slip out of place or for brackets to break or become worn over time. In this case the sooner you can opt for rain gutter repair the better.

If you notice water running down the outside walls of your house during rainy weather, rather than staying in the gutters, you should definitely consider getting them repaired as soon as possible. It will prevent any damage being done to the exterior of your property.

Of course guttering is also the finishing touch on your house. It should look efficient and clean at all times. Regularly cleaning gutters will give them a longer life anyway, as you can keep them free from debris and allow them to work as they should. You will also find it easier to see any blockages or problems with leaks that you may not have spotted before.

This is an all round job essentially, as rain can come at any time. But if repairs are needed it is best to get them done before the autumn and winter comes. This will ensure you can go through what is likely to be the worst weather without any problems at all. So remember - keep cleaning gutters and monitoring them throughout the year.
