Large animals such as cattle, alpacas, and bison are extremely heavy, with adults regularly weighing hundreds of pounds. Some organizations, such as zoos, have to routinely monitor the weight of even larger animals. However, the pressure exerted on a scale by such a heavy animal can easily cause damage to frame due to capacity overload, if either the scale was not built of a sturdy enough material or the correct capacity was not acquired to begin with.
