If you have ever been to the city of Manchester, you will be familiar with the impressive and unforgettable sights and attractions that it has to offer, often for free. It is undoubtedly a hub of creativity and media activity, but which attractions should you see?

Manchester has a rich history of culture and development; with an important musical history and thriving LGBT community. Even though it might appear that the city does not have the appeal of other larger metropolitan cities, not only does Manchester offer a beautiful landscape, there are a number of things to see and do.

These type of tourist attractions have established Manchester as an ideal location for company headquarters, as they give office employees something to do when they are not at work. In fact the following is a list of the key attractions, hand-selected by staff at Need Office Space:

1. Art Galleries, such as The Whitworth: With a collection of over 55,000 items, this gallery contains a number of interesting pieces, as well as an array of unique and unusual exhibits. Just over a year ago, I visited this particular gallery to view ...
... and study an exhibit called 'Kinderzimmer', created by Gregor Schneider, which was a large room with no light in at all, save for an eerily lit up room that solely contained a child's mattress that appeared dirty. Even though this was a very strange experience, it was certainly interesting.

2. The Manchester Museum: Operated by Manchester University, it costs nothing to enter and was recently voted as one of the must-see university museums of the UK. There are around six million items to view within, such as stuffed animals, genuine models, items from different time periods and dinosaur bones. Fantastic, interesting and free!

3. Music venues, such as the Manchester Academy: If you are into music and new bands, then Manchester Academy is the place for you! Music has been vital in making Manchester the important cultural icon and the presence of the Manchester Academy reinforces this strongly. Boasting a varied roster of bands playing, such as Jimmy Eat World, Example and Groove Armada, this is the ideal arena for attending gigs and the atmosphere is always electric.

4. Trafford Centre: Attracting shoppers from around the world, the Trafford Centre has provided a major draw of people to the wide array of stores inside. This centre presents the perfect lunch-break for the average worker in Manchester serviced offices, according to Need Office Space specialists. With an impressively large cinema screen, an excellent food court and premium shops (and smaller outlets), this centre is a veritable paradise for an avid shopper!

5. Beautiful surroundings: Whilst many might think that Manchester is an industrial and grey city, it is actually full of amazing greenery and some of the most widely-celebrated parks in the UK. A particular favourite of mine is Heaton Park; with playgrounds, cafes and an animal centre, this is a great place to unwind and take in some fresh air. There is an array of other parks, some of which might feature facilities equipped for skateboarding.

Whilst it can be even more fun exploring Manchester without prior knowledge and finding out your own personal favourites, these five things to see will add up to the perfect day out.
