Next Generation Iphone And Ipad To Be Graphically Superior

Well, the weekend rumor mill was busy. Now, folks are saying the next generation mobile devices Apple puts out will have a dual-core graphics chip, making them just as high-definition as some HDTVs.
The chip is identified as a dual-core SGX543 GPU from Imagination Technologies. It will even allow users to view HD videos as they were meant to be seen.
The new iPad will sport a faster processer as well, making the device more than capable of handling HD videos.
Other rumors surrounding the second generation iPad include a slot for an SD card †making transferring your files from your iPad to your computer or other digital devices easier, a better speaker, and a redesign of the shape †similar to that of the iPhone 4. The shape rumors stemmed from a lengthy list of complaints about how difficult it is to use the iPad on a flattened surface due to its rounded back.
The dual core graphics chip would definitely give the device a leg up on its competition. And there’s competition aplenty scheduled for the market in 2011. However, none of them are forecasting this ...
... level of quality or clarity in their displays. If this rumor is true, it will be like having a portable HDTV with you all the time.
Is that entirely necessary? No, probably not. Is it pretty cool? Yeah, it is. Is it enough to make me run out and by an iPad 2? No, it’s not. I still don’t see the functionality of tablets †yet. On the go, my iPhone does just about everything the iPad does, and quite frankly I’m not really going to want to type out long documents at the airport on my tablet anyway. I mean, how productive can you honestly be with a touch screen keyboard at the airport with all those announcements going, people bumping into you, trying to grab a bite to eat since God knows they won’t feed you on the plane, etc.? With how thin and portable laptops are becoming, how is a tablet device any more useful than something like that? And they come with a keyboard that’s a lot more reliable than a touch screen.
Rumors and basic logic still put the second generation iPad release date at sometime close to April †just a few short months away. The iPad was released April 3, 2010 and if Steve Jobs keeps with his traditions of releasing upgrades every year on the anniversary of the original release date, April is the anticipated time for the world to get its first glimpse of the iPad 2.
The most solid information I can find about the iPhone 5 isn’t much. In keeping with the same information that was released today, the iPhone 5 is also rumored to be getting a better processer and a complete revamp from its predecessor †whatever that means. So, will it be better than ever, or a two steps back kind of phone? With competitive Android devices inching closer to iPhone’s market share, Jobs can’t afford a two steps back kind of phone. So, let’s hope for better than ever, and see what the spring and summer have to offer.
