Scholarships For Students And Scholarships Programs

Every student needs a source of money to fund and pursue their education. This is mainly because there are students who do not have money even to pay their tuition fees. With education sector becoming a business these days and all schools and colleges fee soaring sky high it has become a tedious task for a student to fund for his higher educational fees. This is where Scholarships plays a vital role by providing a means of resources for students to pursue their education without any troubles.
The very purpose of scholarships and scholarship programmes is to provide a financial aid to the students to help them cope up with their dream of pursuing higher education. It also helps in encouraging and motivating the students especially those who cannot afford to pay their college fees due to many reasons. Scholarships are mainly provided by government. Moreover many have a misconception that scholarships are only for those students who have an excellent academic background. Whoa!! It's time to think reasonably and never ponder a thought over such rumours.
Very true indeed, scholarships can also be given to students ...
... with an average academic background based on their other skill sets, talents criteria and much more. Criteria can be with respect to linguistic minority group or religious minority groups etc. Many private companies like ONGC and other well known charitable trusts recognize the applicant's talent for providing a scholarship. For e.g. just if in case you have an average academic background, but you have an excellent record in the field of sports, music, other co-curricular activities there are organisations which encourage you to enhance your knowledge in that particular field of interest by funding your tuition expenses.
Some of the common type of scholarship programmes seen in India:
1. Minority scholarships:
Scholarships are awarded to students who fall under the category of linguistic minority (Tulu, Konkani speaking students) or religious minority ( Parsis, Buddhists, Jains etc.)
Scholarships awarded to physically challenged students like Deaf, Blind and Dumb etc.
2. Need based scholarships:
These scholarships are awarded to students who have come from a very poor financial background.
3. Talent based scholarships:
These scholarships are awarded to students based on their talents in both academic and non-academic fields.
Now having what is a scholarship and the different types of it let us now have a sneak peek on how to apply for a scholarship programme?
1. The first step requires the applicant to do a research on what are the types of scholarships available and where exactly you can get a scholarship. This can be done through websites and other help desks. For e.g. College's scholarship section
2. Next the applicant should make sure that complete information about his background is given without hiding any facts. He should also attach the related documents as a proof.
Scholarships are really a boon for the students and it is advisable for the applicants to apply as soon as possible. It is also advised for the students to apply for scholarships at all available sources and not just stick to one particular scholarship programme.
