Is Teeth Whitening Worth The Money?
In today's society, lasers have become a part of many different types of treatments, including surgery, eye care,
tattoo removal and now tooth whitening. In fact, laser teeth whitening is a great option for many people.
Laser teeth whitening is a very quick and painless almost instant way to get a brighter smile. Unlike many other
type methods, you will not have to wait months or even days to see the remarkable results. After the treatment is
over you will notice results immediately. This is why this method is so popular with folks, as a lot of people do
not like waiting.
So how does this process actually work?
Usually the dentist will start by first giving your teeth a thorough cleaning to remove all the germs and plaque,
to make sure that there is no debris that could hinder the whitening process. Secondly, the dentist will then apply
some whitening gel and prepare you for the actual laser treatment itself. The laser is actually used to make the
gel more effective, as it is the gel itself that is actually doing the whitening. The laser activates the ...
... gel so
that you can see results sometimes in a matter of seconds.
If your teeth are badly discolored, keep in mind that one session may not be enough to give you the desired result.
You may need to come back for a follow-up treatment. However, if you have only mild discoloration then one
treatment will be all that you need.Over the last 10-15 years cosmetic teeth whitening has gained enormous popularity. This is particularly true in countries such as Australia, UK and of course the United States. It is in contrast to years ago when most of the dental profession was focused on traditional repair and maintenance work. Quite literally, it has become a multi-million dollar industry. There is a split between opinions on whether professional dental treatments are best or whether you might prefer to go for a more cost-effective do-it-yourself home-based treatment for example using lemon juice, crunchy vegetables or baking soda. The latter option is not without risks and experts have warned of adverse consequences, especially if these methods are used for a prolonged period of time. Of the professional treatments, teeth whitening trays are usually involved.
Have you ever consider why teeth get dark?
Tooth discoloration is not devastating in most cases especially today with advancements in tray based teeth whitening.
There are several key reasons why your teeth may get stained. The most obvious reasons include, heredity, tea, coffee, and colan, too much fluoride, and aging.
With advancement in whitening toothpastes this can lighten your teeth, but it is not a substitute for bleaching which will solve more intrinsic staining.
So how are tray-based teeth whitening technique given to the patient? The trays themselves need to be correctly fitted to your teeth to ensure a snug fit. If this is not the case then the bleaching treatment may be comprised. It is an excellent idea to try out your trays without any bleach added in order to test for this. Once you are satisfied with the results you can proceed to the whitening process.
Along with the trays themselves you will also require a bleaching gel agent. This contains the actual chemicals that are used to perform the whitening. After first testing out for a tight fit, you need to add a little of the gel into the trays. It is important not to overfill them as only a tiny amount of the agent is required. If you have filled the trays more than half way up then you have probably gone too far.
This kind of cosmetic teeth whitening is usually only performed on the front teeth and there are two main reasons why this is the case. First, no-one every really gets to see your back teeth. Secondly, it can be awkward and difficult to apply this procedure to the teeth at the back of your mouth. As mentioned above, the trays need to be seated well in your mouth. After you have inserted them be sure to have a tissue with which you can wipe off any excess gel (know you know why it is important not to overfill them!).
You should consult the product instructions to check the duration of your treatment. However, it is usual that the first treatment will last anywhere between 30-60 minutes.
The great thing about this treatment is that it is so quick to do. However, it is easy to get over excited about your new bright, white and shiny teeth. Don't be tempted to apply the treatment for longer than you should and don't repeat too many times. Obviously, everyone's teeth are different but you need to make sure that you follow the product instructions very carefully, especially the first time you perform this procedure.
