Inspirational Speeches Can Make A Difference
Inspirational speeches are speeches that inspire others to greatness or, at the very least, to a better way of living. They are not speeches we usually hear every day of the week. Instead they are ones that we hear rarely and always remember. The speaker will have said something that has struck a chord with us and made us think, and eventually, hopefully, act.
Inspirational speeches can inspire us in many different ways. For instance a C.E.O. of a large company could give a very good inspirational speech at the annual dinner. He might inspire his staff to overcome the recession by working harder or by using their initiative in some way. A preacher might inspire his congregation to become better living by giving examples of others who have led saintly lives. He might encourage them to do acts of kindness by explaining just what a simple act of generosity will do both for the giver and for the person who receives its benefit. A speaker may inspire graduates to make a difference in the world by using their talent, not selfishly merely to make money, but unselfishly to help others.
Inspirational speeches are speeches ...
... that make us think that there is a better way of doing things. People like Martin Luther King and President John F. Kennedy are prime examples of inspirational speakers. Their words linger on in our memories as challenges to us to do something for our country or to follow a dream. Many famous writers have written inspirational quotations that encourage us to be better in some way.
Those giving inspirational speeches often make word pictures when giving their speeches. In this way we can imagine the new and better world we can create by our actions and beliefs. Such speakers explain to us what the results of our actions will be. They will encourage us to believe that things will be better or that we will be more successful if we listen to what they are telling us. They are appealing to something within us that craves to be different and better in some way.
Inspirational speeches have to be suited to the audience in question. You cannot expect a non educated audience to appreciate quotations in Latin for instance, no matter how inspirational those quotations may be. Put simply inspirational speeches have to grip our hearts, make sense to our heads and challenge us to make that difference.
