Father Of The Bride Speeches Are Sincere, Sometimes Sloppy

The mother of the bride, traditionally, sheds a few tears. The father of the bride, though, may be the one who considers the bride to be her daddy's girl. His speech, therefore, expresses his love for his daughter in glowing terms. He is the one who talks about a beautiful baby, an adorable toddler, a wonderful child and a very loving adult daughter. If he is honest he may skip her teenage years.
Her wedding day is the day when the father of the bride can tell the world how wonderful his daughter is and what a marvellous relationship they have. He may speak about her top of the class school reports, her ability to tap dance, speak Russian and be a cheerleader. As far as he is concerned there is nobody in the world like his daughter and he doesn't care who knows it. For that reason too he will want his speech to be one that will please her. That is not to say that it cannot be light-hearted in places because all the nicest people like humour. So he may mention her inability to park the car in a space smaller than that that would berth the Queen Elizabeth.
The father of the bride will, traditionally, welcome the ...
... guests. He will also give a special welcome to the parents and family of the groom as well as to the groom himself. He will speak of how a perfect daughter had to choose a perfect mate and he will speak of how well suited they are to each other. He will also speak about the groom as a person, mentioning his talents and skills. He will also talk about how he hopes that his relationship with his new son-in-law will grow closer over the years.
Often the father of the bride likes to give some advice about matrimony to the young couple. He may mention being considerate or sharing jokes. He may speak about his own relationship with the bride's mother and mention how many of her mother's good traits she has inherited. In that way he is complimenting his wife in his speech. He may speak of the importance of family life and how wonderful it was for him to see his wife and daughter working as a team to organise the wedding.
Speaking of organising the wedding he may also wish to thank some people who have been especially helpful in making the wedding day perfect. Finally when toasting the happy couple he will ensure that his toast is very personal and ideally suited to the best daughter in the world and her new husband.
