Sleep Apnea Treatment Stops Snoring
Did you know that the underlying cause of snoring and sleep apnea (aka OSA or Obstructive Sleep Apnea) is one and the same? Both conditions are caused by restricted or blocked airways due to the lower jaw becoming relaxed and sliding backwards into the soft tissues of the throat.
In the simplest of terms, snoring is the result when the airways are only partially blocked and sleep apnea the result of total blocking of the airways by the jaw. Sleep apnea treatments and snore preventions are very similar.
Sleep apnea is a serious condition that results from complete blockage of the airways by the tongue or soft tissues of the throat. This misalignment is a direct consequence of the lower jaw falling out of place during sleep. Obviously a complete blockage causes oxygen deprivation since it precludes air from reaching the lungs. To restart the breathing process the person must create pressure in the soft throat tissue and tongue. By so doing the airways open and air begins to flow to the lungs; at this point the person emits a sudden snorting sound. It is rare for the person to remember any of these OSA events. Sleep ...
... apnea is a major cause of chronic fatigue and other health related conditions. During an eight hour period the sleep apnea process can repeat itself quite literally hundred of times. Sleep apnea treatment is critical to reduce the incidence of oxygen deprivation.
The National Sleep Foundation highlights the importance of preventing snoring and sleep apnea treatment with some sobering statistics. 60% of all strokes and 70% of all congestive heart failures are expressly relatable to sleep disorders; chief among which is sleep apnea.
Sleep apnea manifests itself with many symptoms. OSA symptoms include snoring, snorting, fatigue, depression, apnea, jerking of limbs, ADHD like symptoms, loss of motor skills and motivation as well as heartburn and acid reflux. Snoring and its more health threatening counterpart, sleep apnea should not be taken lightly. They can lead to serious conditions or irritate previously existing ones. Sleep apnea treatment is a must if sufferers are ever to sleep properly.
Both sleep apnea and snores interfere with REM sleep. The REM period of sleep is the time when the major groups of muscles relax. Without proper REM sleep the risk of heart failure dramatically increases and the body's ability to a reach recuperative sleep level is completely compromised.
A new device has recently become available online to preventing snoring. It is called a jaw supporter. Amazingly this simple device stops snoring and shows promise as a sleep apnea treatment. Since both conditions share the same root cause, it is logical that one treatment can reduce the severity of or prevent both conditions. A sleep mask/jaw supporter is designed to hold the jaw in an upward position thus preventing jaw from falling backwards into the soft tissue of the throat and blocking the airway. Sleep masks support the lower jaw by cradling the chin within a band that encompasses the head. They are comfortable, effective and reasonably priced.
