We often hear the term resolution at every meeting, or any general body of discussion. A resolution is nothing but a written motion or plan of action adopted by a body which convenes and goes through a meeting.

The Indian Student Parliament has the vision of transforming today's youth into ambassadors of change to take on the challenges and occupy worthy offices in the democratic institutions of India. Every youth will be conscious about the issues of regional, national and global concerns and will be equipped to deal with it. Each one will have an important role to make our nation a vibrant democracy. The resolutions passed by this meeting are sent to various policy making bodies like the Prime Minister of India, Central government, State government, UNESCO and Ministry of Youth Affairs to incorporate into their policies. These resolutions and speeches delivered by delegates are also compiled and stored in archives so that they can be used for propagation or for further reference.

Here is a mention of some of the resolutions which are the need of the hour. Providing scholarship and stipend to students who are ...
... at the graduate and post-graduate levels, and who come from the weaker strata of the society, but who have the capability and the intellect. These scholarships should be the responsibility of the state governments to encourage fresh ideas and young talent. There are also resolutions to open up institutes to train the local youth in naxalite affected districts, which should be sponsored by state governments with the assistance of central government.

There should be mandatory workshops for student leaders about RTI each year in every state to educate them about the rights of the citizens and responsibilities of the administration. Providing free hostel facility for graduate and post graduate students belonging to economically weaker sections should be done at the earliest. There is an urgent need to make the curriculum for higher professional courses more practical and suited to the current job scenario, because India produces thousands of graduates and professionals every year, but not even half of them are employable, because they fail to meet the industry needs.

Keeping in mind the concerns for the environment, there should be commitments of each youth to plant and protect one tree in their lifetime, to do their bit and protect the environment, thus enabling a greener future. In order to improve the quality of those labourers who are from slums, or rather, unskilled workers, they should be given short training programs spanning about two months, which should be taken care of by the student representatives, who are so elected in the student parliament.

This move should be reached out to those states where elections are not conducted for the selection of members for this student parliament. There should be an initiative half-yearly in every village by the state funded educational institutions to make them computer literate and also create awareness about the emerging need for technology and its importance.

As a part of recreation and educational tours, there should be inter-state annual tours for students at concessional rates to students, which should be supported by the Indian railways, Government of India and State Transport Development. For the welfare of women, who are an important power house for the nation, there should be mandatory Self Defence Training programs conducted by NCC for in all colleges and universities.

By taking such initiatives, it is not a surprise that India will be empowered with educated and worthy youth who can take the nation to greater heights.
