Few Basic Boating Knots That Everyone Should Know

An angler and a boater has to know a number knots that will help them to do their work properly. Fishing and boating knots are different. In this text piece we will be discussing some basic and advanced boating knots. Here is a brief discussion on the knots that will come handy.

Basic Boating Knots
Cleat Hitch: This is one of the most used knots and is highly usable in sport fishing boats. To tie the knots secure a line to a deck cleat. The knot can be used tying dock lines, anchor lines and mooring pennant.
Round Turn & Two Half Hitches: Boaters use this line to attach the boat to the pole near the dock for giving it a secure parking. This knot is used to ties a line to a pole. Apart from that, you can use the knot for tying fenders, tying dock lines to pilings and rings.

Advanced Knots
Anchor Bend or Fisherman's Bend: There are a number of fishing boats for sale and an anchor bend will work these boats at its best. This is a more secure knot that can be used for fastening a line. Moreover it can also to be used fastening a loop to use an anchor or a fishing hook.
Carrick Bend: A carrick bend is a worthy fishing knot which is also known as "Sailor's Knot". Mostly the knot is used in attaching two heavy lines.
Rolling Hitch: A rolling hitch is best in attaching a non-slip loop to a pole. It is also used in attaching two lines. When the knot is used with an adjustable loop it is called Taut Line Hitch.
