A financial advisor works to help the customer to sustain the preferred amount of investment income, capital gains and acceptable level of risk by utilizing the right asset allocation.

Some financial advisors function as fee-based worker meaning they ask for both the charge fees and they also receive commissions. Alternatively, there are Fee-only financial consultants who don't take commissions but rather the normal fees for their services.
