Why The Left Is Falling Apart

A wise man once said that when you stand for everything, you stand for nothing. And that is the problem with modern liberalism in America. You have disparate groups with completely conflicting principles tugging and pulling the left wing in all directions and none of them are liberal in the classical sense. And what is worse is that their leaders think that when you have the ideology being pulled every which way it actually makes them look like centrists. But looking schizophrenic is more realistic.


The left's vision of centrist is a bunch of angry, left wing America haters mixing with angry, ultra-right wing America haters. Did I say America haters? Think that is too harsh of a term? You might, but it is still true. The groups that today make up the modern Liberal movement in America have only that one thing in common; they hate America and the principles it were founded upon which are limited Republican government and individual liberty. That's it. That is the only common denominator.


You have groups within the liberal left that adore over reaching and intrusive government. They believe ...
... that it is the role of government, and especially the federal government, to reach into the pockets of productive Americans and take their money to give as handouts to others that have not earned it. Forget the Constitution -- just do it anyway. Programs such as Welfare, Social Security, food stamps, Medicare and Medicaid are core beliefs among those that sit on the left side of the isle. Then you have radical environmentalists and animal rights activists demanding that the government control the property of private citizens and dictate what they can and cannot use it for. You have still others demanding that government declare corporations that don't have X% of minorities as bigots. These are the true left wingers of the American left. You know, the socialists, communists, fascists, etc. that just LOVE big government.


At the same time you have the far right wing extremists, proclaiming that the government has to stop telling people what they can and cannot do with other people's bodies growing inside of them. You have people that are me centered and hate government in any form or at least hate any government that is not directly controlled by them because they see it as their right to be able to do what they want when they want. These are the anarchists and the libertines which, I'll admit, are so far to the right of myself and conservatives and libertarians that we welcome them having found a home somewhere other than with us. They give us conservatives and libertarians (i.e. Americans) a bad name.


And this is why the left in America is falling apart. Think I'm wrong? Watch the next rally against the G8 or the WTO and watch groups like Greenpeace marching right along side of the anarchists. You might even see them holding hands in-between throwing rocks and tearing down barricades.


You have the true left wingers pushing and pulling towards a totalitarian, Communist or Socialist state competing with the don't tell me what to do ever ultra-right. It's amazing that this political movement has even remained solvent this long without an internal blood bath.


Matter and anti-matter cannot exist peacefully for very long without going boom. And I think that we are getting very close to the point where the political left in America is about to explode. Oppressive government forces and anti-government forces cannot exist with one another. The only thing that is holding them together is that their mutual hatred for limited government. You know, us pesky Americans that believe in that dusty old out of date piece of paper called the Constitution with limited government established to protect the rights of all.
